As a marketer, I would think that it's only an ideologic concept aimed at convincing people there is a parallel life on line, with its own codes and own references, far away from the world we could call "off line". This is an idealisation of the on line word, introduced as "the better world", a world of freedom and sharing. To me, with my cynical point of view on all these concept that are for most of them just tools to sell new stuff to people. And i have to say that this concept of a parallel better world is not convincing me in any ways. The Internet has been built with pre existing ideologies and techniques, from the liberal tech guys from California in the 60's to the journalists and all the mythology associated to this profession.
However, I must confess there is a huge gap between those who master communication technologies and the other, which means a deep gap inside the society itself. Evolution is going so fast a lot of people cannot follow, they're left on the edge of the road. So in a way we can talk about a parallel life since a majority of the people is excluded, or rather left behind ...
Eculture is therefore about all these new tools of communication (in a wide meaning, from writing to sharing, through talking ... etc.) that implies new use, new customs, and even some times new way of thinking or organizing relationships.
